The three podcasts feature conversations between students from BEAR ArtEZ who participated in the Tracing Generosity theory class, and I’d Rather Be Generous. Over the course of the semester, the students researched a specific area of generosity, that resulted in three sets of fictional stories. We spoke with each group about their research, their stories and characters.
Dog's Moon
Merin, Sylke, Myrthe, Anne, Nurgül and Samira explore in their fable about a distrustful dog, how generosity can open up hearts and make us trust the world (again). They use the characters to research the 'cycles' of generously living together.
GenCo
Camila, Donggun and Max wrote a story about a company called GenCo. It is written in three chapters, moving from the company structure itself, to the experiences of one of the employees Jane Downey and finally from the perspective of a broken windmill passing through. They explore the question: can objects be generous?
Tracing quiet care
Lisa, Anastasija, Robin and Jelle wrote their stories down and put them in a letter box. You may take one out, read it, pass it on, return it or respond. Their research focusses on their concept of 'quiet care' moments of stillness that enable generosity.
A thank you to the BEAR (Base for Experiment, Art and Research) department at ArtEZ in Arnhem. And a special thanks you to the students who participated in the Tracing Generosity class and this podcast project. It was a joy to work with you this semester.
